USF Nursing Student Council holds Community Food Drive
University of South Florida College of Nursing Student Council held a Community Food Drive in recognition of National Food Day and World Food Day. The food drive was held as part of a friendly competition between all USF Health colleges, Oct. 23 through Dec. 5, 2013.
USF College of Nursing collected food and drink items to donate to families and individuals who need help this holiday season. Food items included pasta, pasta sauces, canned vegetables, soup, juices, cereal, crackers, and peanut butter.
“It gives us great satisfaction knowing we can assist those unable to provide for themselves, especially during the holidays,” said USF College of Nursing student and Nursing Student Council President, Emma Adams. “Sometimes people just need a little help, and we are more than happy to do so! The holidays are a perfect time to come together and help those and bring some joy to the community around us.”
Donations will be given to people served by the Tampa Jewish Family Services Community Food Bank, Metropolitan Ministries, San Jose Mission, and Project Downtown. The food drive was sponsored by USF Health Service Corps, USF Health Office of Shared Student Services and USF Health Student Organization.
