USF Nursing student, Sue No, Participates in RWJF New Careers in Nursing (NCIN) Summit

University of South Florida College of Nursing student, Sue No, participated in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s (RWJF) Fifth Annual New Careers in Nursing (NCIN)Summit. She attended the summit to present to the RWJF advisory board members a new organization named Networking Amongst Scholars (NAS), and was the only student attending from the USF College of Nursing.

“I was honored and thrilled when I was invited to attend the New Careers in Nursing Fifth Annual Summit in Washington, D.C.,” Ms. No said. “As a committee member of the NCIN Scholar Network, this network aims to allow other scholars to collaborate among future and current nurses to bring in new ideas that can help strengthen our future in nursing as leaders. As I continue to develop my leadership skills clinically, technically and interpersonally, I will improve myself and self-reflect on my qualities in order to succeed as a leader.”

University of South Florida College of Nursing student, Sue No, was chosen to participate in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s (RWJF) Fifth Annual New Careers in Nursing (NCIN) Summit.  The summit took place Oct. 11 through Oct. 13, 2012 at the Marriot Hotel at the Metro Center in Washington, D.C.

Ms. No was one of the organization’s 12 steering committee members who was invited to participate in the summit. During the event, No along with the other members was able to develop a strong mission statement, which will help them guide their decision-making process moving forward. They were also able to develop a vision for the organization that will help create a sustainable infrastructure and have an influential voice in the nursing community by 2020, according to RWJF.

Ms. Nu was one of the organization’s 12 steering committee members who was invited to participate in the summit. During the summit, Nu along with the other committee members was able to develop a strong mission statement, which will help them guide their decision-making process moving forward.

Ms. No also had the opportunity to participate in various meetings and presentations with the NAS board members. NCIN is a nationwide scholarship program created by RWJF and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). The program is designed to engage grantees from across the country to explore best practices and new approaches to strengthen their accelerated degree programs and increase the pipeline of students traditionally underrepresented in nursing, according to NCIN’s website. The summit took place Oct. 11 through Oct. 13, 2012 at the Marriot Hotel at the Metro Center in Washington, D.C.
