USF Nursing’s Dr. Denise Maguire receives USF Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award
University of South Florida College of Nursing Assistant Professor, Denise Maguire, PhD, RN, CNL, recently received the 2013 USF Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award for demonstrating excellence in teaching.

“It’s an honor to be recognized with this distinguished award,” Dr. Maguire said. “I take great pride in how I teach my students. My excitement about teaching nursing as well as research seem to connect with the students in a way that helps them understand how my topics are pertinent to their practice.”
Dr. Maguire was nominated by USF College of Nursing Associate Professor and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Interprofessional Initiatives, Rita F. D’Aoust, PhD, ACNP, ANP-BC, CNE, FAANP, FNAP, Associate Professor and Assistant Dean for the Undergraduate Program, Cheryl H. Zambroski, PhD, RN, and Instructor and Program Director for RN-BS Completion, Sandra J. Czerwinski, RN, MS.
Dr. Maguire, who has been a neonatal nurse for more than 30 years, started teaching at USF College of Nursing in 2007. Her research mainly focuses on infants with neonatal abstinence syndrome and their mothers.
She was honored for her achievement during the Faculty Honors & Awards Reception on Nov. 26, 2013 at the USF Marshall Center.
