SPTRS Faculty Published in Technology & Innovation Journal

A manuscript by SPTRS faculty Jeannie B. Stephenson, PT, MS, NCS appears in the January 2014 issue of Technology and Innovation, a journal with a multidisciplinary audience that encompasses an entire field of applied sciences with a focus on transformative technology and academic innovation. The article, titled “Locomotor training on a treadmill compared with PNF training in adults with chronic stroke” reports research on the effects of body weight supported treadmill training (BWSTT) compared with proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) training in persons who have had a stroke. Results of the study supported the efficacy of both BWSTT and PNF compared with no training to increase gait speed in people with stroke, yet did not show that one intervention was superior to the other.

This study was funded through a USF Office of Sponsored Research “New Researcher Grant” to the lead author, Jeannie Stephenson.
