Traumatic brain injury, the “signature” injury of soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, is often invisible on the exterior. But the damage of combat blast forces to memory, attention, decision-making and motor skills can devastate lives. Now, armed with a new $1.57 million Department of Defense grant, USF is working with James A. Haley VA Hospital on research that may lead to better treatments and readjustment skills for veterans suffering from TBI.
