This course includes six sections: Disaster Preparedness, Fire Safety, Hazardous Material, and Terrorist Incidents, Disaster Medical Operations, and Search & Rescue. All classes, practical exercises, and hands-on skills will be taught in person. To become a CERT member, one must complete the classroom training being offered to USF students, staff, faculty, and others in the community. Training will occur over the course of three days, all participants must attend all three days of training to receive your certification. Registration is required, and space is limited. Benefits: (1) Learn life-saving and advanced first aid skills; (2) Practice basic Search and Rescue methods; (3) Final Practical Disaster Exercise to practice skills; (4) Participate in HOSA competitions in CERT; (5) FEMA-based training and Certificate provided upon completion; (6) Gain volunteer and community service hours; (7) Gain experience in the Public Safety and Emergency Management fields; (8) Eligibility for service awards
